SPEAKERS

Sean Mathews has been an elected HSR for 5 years. He is an Equipment and Resource Nurse at Eastern Health. Sean won WorkSafe’s HSR of the Year in 2015 for improving health & safety when his worksite was moved and several hazards cropped up, including carcinogenic chemicals being placed near food preparation areas!

Vasalia Govender has been an elected HSR for 16 years while working as a Disability Development Support Officer. Vasalia is a passionate advocate for her DWG, and this passion has led her to take on studying a Masters of Occupational Health, Safety and Ergonomics at La Trobe University. She will speak about her personal experiences as well as presenting the findings of her research into consultation. (Take her survey here).

Clayton Larkin is a WorkSafe Inspector. He has a long working history and involvement in OHS since being elected as an HSR in 1997 at Kraft in Port Melbourne. Clayton worked as the OHS Officer at the National Union of Workers for 8 years.

Lauren Keillor has been an elected HSR for 2 years. Lauren works as a Lab Operator at Boeing Aerostructures Australia. Lauren will feature on the panel sharing her successes improving safety in her worksite by using the hierarchy of controls to prevent exposure to solvents.

Krista Barnes is a teacher who has been an elected HSR for 2 years at Sebastopol Primary School in regional Victoria.
